2024 FALL SEASON TRIBAL FISHERY ANNOUNCEMENT

The Four Columbia River Tribes set the following fishery plan and the Columbia River Compact concurred: 

The tribes are continuing to provide fishing opportunity throughout the summer season. 

Zone 6 Commercial Gillnet Fishery 

Area: All of Zone 6 

Dates/Times: 6 AM Monday August 19 to 6 PM Thursday August 22 (3 nights) and 

6 AM Monday August 26 to 6 PM Friday August 30 (4 nights) and 

6 AM Monday September 2 to 6 PM Friday September 6 (4 nights) 

Gear: Set and Drift Gillnets with an 8 inch minimum mesh size restriction. 

Allowable Sales: Salmon (any species), steelhead, shad, yellow perch, bass, walleye, catfish and carp may be sold or retained for subsistence. Fish landed during the open periods are allowed to be sold after the period concludes. Sturgeon may not be sold, but sturgeon from 38 to 54 inches fork length in the Bonneville Pool and sturgeon from 43 to 54 inches fork length in The Dalles and John Day Pools may be kept for subsistence purposes. Fish landed during the open periods are allowed to be sold after the period concludes. 

Closed Areas: River mouth and dam closed areas applicable to gillnets in effect including the standard Spring Creek Hatchery Sanctuary. 

Zone 6 Platform and Hook and Line Fisheries 

There are no changes to current platform and hook and line regulations. 

Additional Commercial Gillnet Openings may be scheduled at a later date. 

Tributary Fisheries and Fisheries Downstream of Bonneville Dam 

Tributary fisheries are managed under separate limits from the mainstem fishery. This action does not affect the tributary fisheries. Please contact your tribe for current tributary regulations.
