MISSION – Farm and food workers who incurred expenses preparing for, preventing exposure to and responding to the COVID-19 pandemic are entitled to a one-time $600 payment from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Farm and Food Worker Relief (FFWR) Grant Program.
According to the USDA, agricultural and meatpacking workers, as well as select grocery workers, may receive one relief payment per person if they worked in an eligible front-line job in the United States during the COVID-19 pandemic between Jan. 20, 2020, and May 11, 2023.
The FFWR awarded approximately $670 million through competitive grants to 14 nonprofit organizations and one tribal entity. Those entities can be found at Farm and Food Workers Relief Grant Program Fiscal Year 2023 Description of Funded Projects (usda.gov) Together, those entities issue relief payments to eligible farm and food workers nationwide.
To apply for the FFWR, follow these steps:
- Visit the USDA FFWR Awarded Grants webpage to locate the organization serving your area.
- Reach out to the organization to get details on the application process.
- You will need to provide proof of identity and employment. This includes documentation showing you worked in an eligible front-line job during the COVID-19 pandemic.
- Complete and submit the application form provided by the organization.
The 15 grant recipients may work with partner organizations across the country to provide relief funds to workers nationwide. If you do not recognize the name of the organization offering FFWR payments, email the USDA team at FFWR@usda.gov.
