Golden Eagles fall to Rattlers in nonleague play

By ANNIE FOWLER, The CUJ

MISSION — Nevaeh Moore and Liana Higheagle each had four digs and two kills for the Golden Eagles, but it wouldn’t be enough as the Rattlers slithered away with a 25-13, 25-13, 25-10 nonleague win on Wednesday, Sept. 18.

“The girls are taking it one match at a time right now,” Nixyáawii coach Rayne Spencer said. “As we have a string of games, this is a great opportunity for the girls to develop confidence in themselves and their teammates.”

Brianah Matamoros added three assists, one ace and one kill for Nixyáawii, while Aiyana Thompson Redelk had two aces.

“We are working to keep our energy high and celebrating a point or an awesome play,” Spencer said. “When they are full of energy, they play with urgency and get after the ball. It’s a lot of fun to watch.”

The Golden Eagles will play Thursday at Griswold in an Old Oregon League match.
