ECHO 3, NIXYAAWII 0 — The Cougars celebrated their annual Pink Night with a 25-15, 25-14, 25-20 Old Oregon League win over the Golden Eagles.
“The girls played with a lot of energy tonight,” Echo coach Des Thew said. “It was nice to see them get back to the fun, animated group that they are. They are starting to settle in and find rhythm as a team. I am grateful to the crowd. They helped keep the energy level high in the gym. It was a great night to raise some money for a good cause.”
Taylor Sperr led the Cougars (4-3 OOL) with nine kills while Kenzie Hendrix and Brooklynn Wade each had six. Hendrix also had nine assists, while Lilah Miller had eight assists, and Sarah Thomas four aces.
GRANT UNION 3, WESTON-MCEWEN 2 — The host Prospectors eked out a 23-25, 25-16, 25-22, 22-25, 15-10 Blue Mountain Conference win over the TigerScots.
“Unfortunate loss for us,” W-M coach Marie Cain said. “It’s difficult to pull out a win with the amount of unforced errors we had tonight. It’s stuff we can control, so we will work on that and come back better.”
Delaynee Angell led the TigerScots with 12 kills and seven digs, while Charlotte Hansell had six kills and nine digs, Bri Ward seven kills, Addy Hall three kills and 10 digs, Kylie Kramer nine digs, and Mya Bryan eight digs.
Weston-McEwen and Grant Union are both 2-2 in the BMC standings.
