TigerScots move up into BMC tie with Friday win

ATHENA — Weston-MCEwen moved into a tie with Stanfield for third place in the Blue Mountain Conference standings with a 44-20 win Friday, Oct. 25, over Riverside.

“We played hard and made some key adjustments on defense,” W-M coach Morgan Dunlap said. “Riverside came with a good game plan. We ran downhill and everyone contributed to a team win. We still have room for improvement, but are going in the right direction. I’m proud of everyone.”

Weston-McEwen and Stanfield are both 3-2 in conference play, but the TigerScots hold the head-to-head tie-breaker.

Jace Dunlap ran for 198 yards on 20 carries for W-M (4-4 overall), but did not find the end zone. Gunnar McBean had four carries for 17 yards and two touchdowns, while Maddox King had 4 yards on two carries for one touchdown.

Easton Berry completed 8 of 13 passes for 135 yards and two touchdowns, and also ran for 51 yards.

Ethan Reeder had two catches for 46 yards and two touchdowns, while Dunlap had two catches for33 yards and Colby Perkins had 2 catches for 6 yards.

Defensively, Berry had nine tackles and an interception, while Dylan Monaco had two interceptions, Perkins 5.5 tackles and Wyatt Parson 4.5 tackles.

For the Pirates (2-6, 1-5), Anthony Lopez took off for a 70-yard touchdown run, and threw for 200 yards and two touchdowns.

Colby Crowell had 70 yards receiving with one touchdown, while Jeremias Calvillo had 80 yards receiving with one touchdown.

Riverside will play Nov. 1, at McLoughlin in a nonleague game, while W-M will finish up conference play Nov. 1 at Grant Union.
