WEISER, Idaho — Ty Cobb rushed for 120 yards and two touchdowns to lead Weiser to a 62-14 nonleague win over Pendleton on Friday, Sept. 19.
“We have taken our lumps this preseason,” Pendleton coach Erik Davis said. “We are beat up and extremely young, but we will continue to work and prepare for the second half of the season. We are still in control of our own destiny. We need to keep our heads up and figure out a way to turn the season around starting next week at home against Estacada.”
For Pendleton (0-4), freshman Aiden Cox caught three passes for 67 yards and one touchdown, and had a 90-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.
Vance Nelson ran for 25 yards on eight carries, while Tugg McQuinn had 24 yards on five carries. Cole Sazue completed 16 of 27 passes for 164 yards with one touchdown and four interceptions. Zane Emery was on the receiving end of four catches for 37 yards, and Teegan Herrera had five catches for 35 yards.
Defensively, Kolt McQuinn had eight tackles, while Cole Roy had six. Nelson had a fumble recovery and Tugg McQuinn had an interception.
“We need to get healthy and we need to get a lot better to make any sort of run in league,” Davis said. “But I promise you we will not get complacent in our preparation. We just need to execute at a way better level.”
The Wolverines (2-2), who led 36-0 at the half, ran for a season-high 401 yards, and defensively had four interceptions, two each by Wyatt Black and Shayd Crossley.
