MISSION — It wasn’t easy, but Pilot Rock pulled out a 25-22, 25-20, 25-17 Old Oregon League victory over Nixyaawii on Wednesday, Oct.  1.

“Our team played hard all match,” Pilot Rock coach Jen Porter said. “We had several times in the first two sets where we were down and we came back for the win. We held the lead in the third set but struggled with our serves. Everyone stayed positive and played well as a team.”

Kashley Golden led the Rockets (6-8 overall, 3-3 OOL) with nine kills, and eight digs, while Gracee Hemphill added six kills, six aces and one block, Kessa Litfin six kills and eight assists, Coley Gibbs nine digs, and Aubrey Corwin eight digs, 14 assists and seven aces.

“Kashley had a good night hitting,” Porter said. “Aubrey also did a great job serving and setting up her hitters.”

The Golden Eagles (2-5, 1-3), who were coming off their first OOL win of the season Tuesday, got four kills and two aces from Devon Hall Spencer, while Liana Stewart had two aces and one kills, Annalise Watchman five aces, and freshman Cryssa Kirkie two aces, one kill and one tip.

“We had a tough loss against Pilot Rock tonight,” Nixyaawii coach Nina Watchman said. We had some miscommunication which cost us.”

The Golden Eagles will host Echo on Thursday, while Pilot Rock will host Imbler and Cove on Saturday.
