Bronson leads Nixyaawii past Wallowa

MISSION — Kash Bronson poured in 32 points to lead the Nixyaawii to an 87-27 victory Thursday night over Wallowa.

“When we move the ball, we can score,” Nixyaawii coach Aaron Noisey said. “We are improving on moving the ball and trusting it will come back to who had the hot hand.”

The Golden Eagles (5-7) wasted no time on taking control of the game, going on a 21-6 run in the first quarter, thanks to 10 points from Bronson.

Hiyuum Nowland scored seven of his 10 points in the second quarter as the Golden Eagles went on a 28-11 scoring spree for a 49-17 lead at the half.

Nixyaawii outscored the Cougars 38-10 in the second half to cruise to victory.

Irvin Stewart added 12 points for the Golden Eagles, while Landon Schofield and Jeffrey Van Pelt each had seven.

“I thought Irvin had a great game,” Noisey said. “He made sure everyone was involved in the game. He helped move the ball and got it into Kash’s hand.”

Hayden Woods led the Cougars (0-13) with 11 points, while Marcus Power and Josh Bales each had seven.
