Murdock rallies Echo past Nixyaawii

ECHO — Mack Murdock had 23 points and hauled down 27 rebounds, and Echo jumped to the top of the Old Oregon League standings with a 60-55 win over Nixyaawii on Thursday night.

Nixyaawii (6-9 overall, 1-1 OOL) bolted out to a 15-6 lead in the first quarter, and led 28-18 at the half.

Echo stormed back in the third with a 20-14 run to pull within 42-38 heading into the fourth quarter.

The Cougars (7-8, 2-1) closed out the game with a 22-13 run in the fourth.

Echo dominated the board with a 63-42 edge, while Nixyaawii scored 15 points off 17 Echo turnovers.

Tyler Campbell added 16 points and four turnovers for the Cougars, while Kohlvin Wyse added eight points and 10 rebounds.

Kash Bronson had a game-high 26 points and five rebounds for the Golden Eagles, while Cashis Bevis added 13 points, six rebounds and three steals, and Jeffrey Van Pelt had eight points, 10 rebounds and three steals. Irvin Stewart chipped in nine rebounds and four steals.
