Pendleton girls win Vikings Invite

UMATILLA — Pendleton, behind the strength of four champions, won the Vikings Invitational on Saturday at Umatilla High School with 121.5 points.

Riverside was a distant second (84), while Irrigon was fourth (43), Heppner sixth (38), Umatilla eighth (28.5) and Weston-McEwen 10th (25).

Pendleton dominated the upper weights, winning titles at 155, 170, 190 and 235.

Thiri Dahl won the 155-pound title, winning both of her opponents. She pinned Bella Karas of Weston-McEwen in the finals in 1:19.

At 170, Madison Chase pinned all three of her opponents in the first round, including Sylvia Pimley of Columbia White Salmon in 39 seconds in the title bout.

Harlee James dominated at 190 winning by major decision in the quarterfinals, by fall in the semis, and she posted a 15-0 technical fall over Ontario’s Carmela Rodriguez in the finals.

At 235, Gabby Kennedy won both of her matches by fall for the title. She pinned Cinthia Madrigal of Irrigon in 1:41 in the championship match.

Also for the Bucks, Devon Scott was second at 130, and Tinley Foster was third at 130. 

At 125, Riverside’s Megan Wiseman finished first, winning all three of her matches by fall. She pinned Pendleton’s Hazel Case in 3 minutes in the title bout.
