ATHENA — Hayden Vera and Curtis Krogh combined for 43 points to lead Irrigon to a 57-43 Blue Mountain Conference win Saturday over Weston-McEwen.
“We will take the win,” Irrigon coach Fredy Vera said. “We had a couple of guys out sick today. There was a lid on the rim for us, but I’m proud of the way we finished the game.”
Krogh scored nine of his 22 points in the first quarter as the Knights (7-5 overall, 1-1 BMC) raced out to a 19-12 lead.
The TigerScots (3-12, 0-2) pulled within 28-22 at the half, and Irrigon held a 42-35 lead after three quarters.
Vera scored 11 of his 21 points in the fourth quarter as the Knights went on a 15-8 run to close out the game.
“My boys played so great,” W-M coach Becky Kane said. “I feel the game was closer than the score shows. We’re coming together and getting better.”
Jace Dunlap led the TigerScots with 18 points, while Jonny Leighty had eight points and Colby Perkins six.
