Bucks boys and girls fifth in Madras

MADRAS — In a field of 241 swimmers and 16 teams, Pendleton held its own Saturday at the White Buffalo Classic. 

The Bucks placed fifth in the girls and boys team standings.

“It was a great final meet to get ready for districts,” Pendleton coach Tony Nelson said.

The Dalles won the boys team title with 237 points, with Molalla second with 218. Pendleton was fifth with 179.5.

Jared pace led the Bucks, placing fourth in the 50 free with a time of 25.08, fifth in the 100 butterfly (1:05.42), and was part of the 400 free relay with Levi Bonzani, Farley Hill and Cameron Burt that placed fourth with a time of 4:12.89.

The same quartet also placed fifth in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:47.35.

Also for the Bucks, Autry Robinson was third in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:16.86, while Logan Sewell was sixth in the 100 backstroke (1:22.77), and Burt was eighth in the 200 free (2:20.64)

Ridgeview won the girls’ team title with 306 points, with Redmond a distant second with 266. Pendleton was fifth with 191.

Sophie Nelson led Pendleton, placing fifth in the 50 free (28.41), eighth in 100 butterfly (1:16.86), and was a member of the 200 free relay team with Avery Pitner, Elizabeth Currin and Maryn Broker that placed fifth with a time of 1:57.21.

The same team of girls placed fifth in the 400 free relay with a time of 4:22.58.

Also for Pendleton, Maddy Gunter was eighth in the 200 free (2:31.64), Broker was eighth in the 200 IM (2:47.84), and Pitner was eighth in the 50 free (28.90) and 10th in the 100 free (1:06.22).
