IRRIGON — Irrigon had its second-largest scoring output of the season as it cruised to a 96-46 Blue Mountain Conference win Saturday over Weston-McEwen.
“Great team win today,” Irrigon coach Fredy Vera said. “Energy was great and the boys clicked all night.”
Hayden Vera scored nine of his 16 points in the first quarter as the Knights jumped out to a 25-18 lead. Irrigon extended its lead to 48-29 at the half.
Bennette Atkins scored 16 of his 24 points in the second half as the Knights (9-10 overall, 2-5 BMC) went on a 48-18 scoring spree.
“Tough game versus a tough team,” W-M coach Becky Kane said. “Irrigon has a lot of weapons. We stuck with them in the first quarter.”
Aiden Wells added 19 points for Irrigon, while Curtis Krogh had 16 and Edgar Valdes 14.
Jace Dunlap led the TigerScots (3-17, 0-7) with 14 points, while Jonny Leighty had 14 and Theo Sprenger six.
