HELIX — Kash Bronson poured in 34 points to lead Nixyaawii to a 78-43 Old Oregon League win over the Grizzlies on Saturday, and grab the Meacham title of the OOL.
“We just couldn’t match their fast pace and ball movement,” Griswold coach Chris Peters said. “We need to learn to be constantly making the next move.”
Nixyaawii (14-9 overall, 8-1 OOL) flew out to a 25-13 lead in the first quarter, then used a 21-9 run in the second for a 46-22 lead at the half.
The points just kept pouring in for the Golden Eagles, who outscored the Grizzlies 32-21 in the second half to run their win streak to eight games.
Irvin Stewart added 17 points for Nixyaawii, while Keli Spencer had 14.
Ethan Harlow led the Grizzlies (9-13, 2-6) with 13 points, while Eli Boatman added 12.
Golden Eagles soar past Grizzlies
NIXYAAWII 53, HELIX 20 — Annalise Watchman and Cryssa Kirkie each had 15 points to lead Nixyaawii to a 53-20 Old Oregon League win Saturday over Griswold.
Nixyaawii (9-14 overall, 4-5 OOL), which sits fourth in the Meacham Division, bolted out to a 12-2 lead in the first quarter and stretched its lead to 28-11 at the half.
A 25-9 run in the second half by Nixyaawii put the game out of reach for the Grizzlies.
Liana Stewart added 13 points for the Golden Eagles, who will close out their OOL schedule Feb. 12 at Imbler.
Ellie Morris led the Grizzlies (6-16, 0-8) with eight points, while Kallie Joe Campbell had five.
