Pendleton girls second at Pilot Rock Tournament

Dufur edged Pendleton by three strokes to win the team title at the Pilot Rock Tournament on Wednesday at The Golf Course at Birch Creek in Pendleton.

The Rangers, led by Tygh Timinsky’s 83, finished with a 429, while the Bucks had a 432.

Timinsky, who is headed to the University of Oregon, won medalist honors, with Sophie Nelson of Pendleton second with a 100.

Also scoring for Pendleton were Emma Ware (34th, 105), Brinley Curtiss (46th, 110) and Kennady Alvarado (66th, 117).

Heppner, fourth in the team standings with a 461, was led by Eva Worden (59th, 114), followed by Jules Archer (63rd, 116), Hannah Brannon (72nd, 120) and Ashlee Knutz (74th, 122).

Mac-Hi, which did not field a complete team, was led by Delaney Chesnut, who was 32nd with a 103. Lyla Banks and Areli Saldana tied for 92nd with a 137.

Boys golf

Echo/Stanfield, behind a strong performance from Tyler Campbell and Owen Stafford, finished second in the teams standings behind La Grande at the Pilot Rock Tournament at The Golf Course at Birch Creek in Pendleton.

Campbell finished tied for fourth with an 83, while Stafford was 10th with an 86.

La Grande finished with a 350 to win the team title, while the Cougars were a close second with a 354. 

Coltin Miller of Burns took medalist honors with an 82, while Mac-Hi’s Preston Wheeler was second with an 81, and Brody Miller of La Grande was third with an 82.

Pilot Rock’s Landon Norton finished tied for fourth with an 82 with five other golfers, including Campbell. Norton was the lone Pilot Rock golfer.

Weston-McEwen did not field a full team, but had David Murphy placed 36th with a 107, and Theo Sprenger was 46th with a 110. Nixyaawii was led by Evan Minthorn (88th, 133), followed by Harley Gone (90th, 135) and Jeffrey Van Pelt (91st, 136).
