Pendleton shuts out Manitou Springs

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Nate Driskell hit two doubles and drove in seven runs as Pendleton beat Manitou Springs, Colorado, 13-0 in five innings on Monday at the Coach Bob Invitational at Desert Mountain High School in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Pendleton (2-3) jumped out to an early lead and never let up in winning its second game of the season.

In the bottom of the first, Driskell hit a two-run double to give the Bucks a 2-0 lead.

In the second, Pendleton went out front 6-0 after scoring on a bases-loaded walk, a groundout by Vance Nelson, and a two-run single by Driskell.

In the third, Colin Harrington hit an RBI single, Driskell belted a two-run double to center field, and Reid Furstenberg hit a double to center field to put Driskell across the plate for a 10-0 lead.

Pendleton finished the scoring in the fourth as Aaden Hernandez scored on a wild pitch, Wes Browning hit an RBI single, and Driskell put a run across the plate with a sacrifice fly.

Harrington picked up the win, allowing no runs on one hit and striking out three.

Pendleton will play Riversdale Ridge (CO) at 9 a.m. Tuesday, followed by a game against Pine Creek (CO) at noon.
