Weston-McEwen will play for fourth place

PENDLETON — Charlotte Hansell had 14 points, seven rebounds and four steals to lead Weston-McEwen to a 39-30 win over Bandon on  Friday in the consolation semifinals of the 2A state tournament at Pendleton High School.

“It’s great to bounce back from a tough loss at an early game the next day,” Weston-McEwen coach Jeremy Wolf said.  “Bandon came to play and were very physical so we had to be strong and smart at the same time. It’s always good to still be playing.”

The No. 2 TigerScots (24-3) will play No. 12 Oakland in the fourth-place game at 10:45 a.m. Saturday at the Pendleton Convention Center.

Bandon, in the tournament for the seventh consecutive year, finished its season with a 24-5 record.

Weston-McEwen held an 8-6 lead after the first quarter, then went on a 14-2 run in the second, starting with a Hansell steal and basket for a 10-6 lead just 38 seconds in the quarter.
