PENDLETON — Garret Reinhart had 21 points to lead Pendleton to a 75-47 win over Ontario in the first round of the Greater Oregon League district tournament Tuesday at Warberg Court.
“We played well tonight,” Pendleton coach Ron Murphy said. “We have struggled against Ontario a little bit. We were a much better team today.”
The Bucks (14-12) will play Thursday at La Grande in the district semifinals.
“Our goal is to play in the final 16,” Murphy said. “We have some more work to do. We haven’t played well against them in both games. We are looking forward to Thursday.”
Aaden Hernandez had nine points in the first quarter as Pendleton cruised to a 25-10 lead.
The Bucks extended their lead to 41-23 at the half, and with the help of 10 points from Jubal Housington in the third quarter, Pendleton’s lead ballooned to 61-33.
Hoisington added 18 points for the Bucks, while Teegan Herrera added 13, and Hernandez 12.
“It’s nice to have multiple guys contributing offensively and defensively,” Murphy said. “We got everyone involved in the game, and that’s what we were looking for.”
Ryder Larson led the Tigers (4-20) with 25 points, while RJ Favela added 13.
Girls basketball
PENDLETON 71, ONTARIO 6 — Khimora Scott poured in 26 points, and the Bucks beat the Tigers in the first round of the Greater Oregon League district tournament at Warberg Court.
“The girls came out and took care of business early,” Pendleton coach Tim Foster said. “Rylee (Jackson), Kim and Presley (Greenwalt) shot really well and did a great job getting in the passing lanes and creating transition opportunities. Defensively, everyone kept their energy high and limited Ontario’s scoring opportunities. We’ll enjoy this win, but we’ve got a big one at La Grande on Thursday, so that’s our focus moving forward.”
Pendleton (12-13) will play Thursday at La Grande in the district semifinals. Ontario finished its season 0-24.
Scott had 12 of her points in the first quarter as the Bucks took a 26-0 lead. A 9-1 run in the second gave Pendleton a 35-1 lead at the half.
Scott added 10 more points in the third as the Bucks went on a 25-3 scoring spree for a 60-4 lead.
Jackson added 18 points for the Bucks, while Greenwalt had 12 and Katelyn Boatman seven.
