NEWPORT — Pendleton finished play at the Battle at the Beach with a 12-5 victory Tuesday over Estacada to improve to 4-0 on the season.
The Bucks exploded for 10 runs in the fifth inning to overcome a 3-2 deficit.
Maryn Broker evened the score at 3-3 with an RBI single, then Pendleton scored seven runs with two outs.
Kelso Primus started the onslaught with a two-run home run, Bri Medrano hit a two-run single, Tatum Lambert scored on an error, Rylee Jackson stole home, Broker hit an RBI single, and Avery Quaempts finished off the rally with a two-run home run to center field.
The Rangers (4-1) added two runs in the bottom of the fifth off a two-run homer by Laney Briones, but it wouldn’t be enough.
Lambert, Evans and Shaylor Fisher all hit doubles for the Bucks, while Quaempts stole three bases and led the team with three RBIs.
Fisher picked up the win in the circle, allowing five runs on seven hits with seven strikeouts and four walks.
Pendleton is back in action Tuesday, hosting McLoughlin.
Rockets sweep Mac-Hi
PILOT ROCK 14, MCLOUGHLIN 3 — Hailey Severe hit a three-run home run in the third inning to lead Pilot Rock to a 14-3 win over McLoughlin on Tuesday in the first game of their doubleheader.
Pilot Rock led 2-0 after two innings, but Mac-Hi got one run back in the top of the third on a Makenzee Smith single to center field.
The Rockets put up six runs in the third, three coming off Severe’s home run. Hailey Thieme stole home to open the inning, and Nevaeh Moore hit an RBI single. Thieme finished the scoring with an RBI single with two outs for an 8-1 lead.
The Rockets added five runs in the bottom of the fifth to invoke the mercy rule.
Jada Deist pitched a complete game, allowing three runs on six hits and striking out eight.
Smith took the loss for Mac-Hi, giving up 14 runs on 10 hits. She struck out six and walked 13.
In the nightcap, freshman Autumn Severe went 2-for-2 with a triple and four RBIs as the Rockets invoked the mercy rule with a 16-0 win after four innings.
Pilot Rock got off to a hot start with six runs in the first inning and six more in the second. With three runs in the fourth, the Rockets put an end to the game.
Paige Hansen hit a double and scored three times for the Rickets, while Hailey Severe hit a triple. Coley Gibbs pitched a shutout while scattering five hits and striking out six. She walked one. Smith had two hits for the Pioneers, including a triple.
