PILOT ROCK — Pilot Rock used a 32-10 run in the second half to pull away from Cove for a 50-21 Old Oregon League win Saturday afternoon.
“We had a slow start to the game, but got things going offensively in the second half,” said Pilot Rock coach David Norton, whose team has won three in a row.
Pilot Rock (13-4 overall, 2-1 OOL) led 18-11 at the half, then put together an 18-4 run in the third quarter for a 36-15 lead.
Sophomore Hailey Severe paced the Rockets with 16 points, while Paige Hansen added nine, and Kessa Litfin and Hailey Thieme each had eight.
Briley Beverage led the Leopards (4-12, 1-2) with seven points, with Madison Frank adding five.

PILOT ROCK 72, COVE 59 — Tate Thacker had a career-high 29 points as No. 9 Pilot Rock improved to 2-1 in Old Oregon League play with a 72-59 win over Cove on Saturday.
Pilot Rock (14-3 overall, 2-1 OOL) had a 32-24 lead at the half, then went on a 25-14 run in the third, behind 11 points from Thacker and nine from Sun Schimmel, to extend its lead to 57-38.
Cove (6-10, 0-3) went on a 21-15 scoring spree in the fourth but could not catch the Rockets.
Schimmel added 26 points for the Rockets, while Gage Williams added six.
Gavin Pedro paced the Leopards with 20 points, with Matt Blake adding 15 and Ian Garlitz 13.
