PILOT ROCK 3, NIXYÁAWII 1 — Aubrey Corwin had five kills and nine aces as the Rockets eked out a 17-25, 25-8, 27-25, 25-21 Old Oregon League road win over the Golden Eagles.

“It was nice to get the first league win tonight,” Pilot Rock coach Jen Porter said. “Nixyáawii played well tonight and they made us work for the win. Aubrey had a great match. She made key plays at critical times in the match.”

The Golden Eagles (0-2), who played with just six players, made the Rockets earn every point.

“I cannot stop talking about the amount of growth that the girls have shown in the last two games,” Nixyáawii coach Rayne Spencer said. “We had a minor setback showing up with six players, but it’s times like today that show truly how resilient these girls are and that they will fight to the end. They came out tough with a lot of energy to take the first set, but Pilot Rock answered by taking the last three.”

Kessa Litfin added five kills, nine digs, and six assists for the Rockets, while Kashley Golden had seven aces.

Nixyáawii will host Spray/Mitchell/Wheeler on Wednesday, while Pilot Rock is at Huntington on Thursday.
