LEBANON — The Nixyaawii boys ran into a fast and talented field at the Champs Invite at Cheadle Lake Park.
Cashis Bevis was the first Golden Eagle across the finish line, clocking a 22:24.60 to place 142nd.
Neah-Kah-Nie won the team title with 132 points, with Trinity Academy a distant second with 173. Nixyaawii was 22nd with 624 points.
Tytus Janssen of Santiam Christian won the race with a time of 16:36.20. The first four runners were under 17 minutes.
Also scoring for the Golden Eagles were Bryson Boyd (159th, PR 23:26.90), Jeffrey Van Pelt (165th, 23:47.20), Noah Snow (170th, PR 24:46.40) and Dresden Farrow (175th, PR 25:30.90).
In the girls’ race, Nixyaawii finished 12th in the team standings with 270 points.
Sisters won the team title with 50 points, while Central Linn was second (80).
Kalkidan Ellis of Western Christian won the race with a time of 19:46.60.
Leading the way for the Golden Eagles was Emma Star-Nez, who was 66th with a time of 25:50. She was followed by Rosaella Salt (85th, 27:29.70), Shylee Broncheau (91st, PR 27:56.80), Ayanna Star (102nd, 30:56.60) and June Johnson (104th, PR 31:46.40).
