CORBETT — Pendleton beat Estacada 22-25, 25-12, 15-5 to win the Corbett Tournament title Saturday, Oct. 18.
“We had a good opportunity today to play a couple of good teams to prepare us for postseason play,” Pendleton coach Jodi Primus said. “Estacada and Astoria both have some great hitters that challenged us at the net.”
The second-ranked Bucks (17-3) went 3-0 in pool play, then beat the ninth-ranked Fishermen 25-19, 25-15 in the semifinals to reach the championship match against the Rangers.
“Tournaments are challenging in that they make for long days of a lot of volleyball, which can be hard to play well all day long, but these girls did just that,” Primus said. “They worked hard all day and didn’t lose sight of their goal to win this tournament.”
On the day, Caitlin Cooley had 72 assists and 19 digs, while Avery Brown had 33 kills, 10 solo blocks, six block assists and she served for 42 points with six aces.
