PENDLETON — Tugg McQuinn and Vance Nelson scored two touchdowns to lead Pendleton to its first victory of the year — a 35-13 Greater Oregon League victory over The Dalles on Friday, Oct. 17.
“This game was big for us,” Pendleton coach Erik Davis said. “The energy was high all night and it goes to show that our kids care. That’s big. As tough as our season has gone, our coaches and kids still grind and compete. This win sets us up for a little run at the end of the season, and if we stay healthy moving forward I feel we can compete with the teams left on our schedule.”
McQuinn carried the ball 12 times for 93 yards, while Nelson had eight carries for 31 yards.
Quarterback Cole Sazue completed 6 of 13 passes for 122 and two touchdowns, one each to McQuinn and Zane Emery.
McQuinn caught three passes for 71 yards, while Emery had two catches for 55 yards.
The Bucks’ defense was stellar, with Cole Roy leading the way with 12 tackles. Nelson and Vance Phillips each had nine tackles, while Kolt McQuinn had eight.
Nelson also returned an interception for a touchdown, while Tugg McQuinn and Emery each had an interception.
Pendleton (1-6 overall, 1-1 GOL) will host Ontario on Oct. 24.
