PILOT ROCK — Kashley Golden had nine kills and two blocks as Pilot Rock opened Old Oregon League play with a 25-19, 25-15, 21-25, 27-25 win Tuesday, Sept. 16, over Nixyaawii.
“We battled back in the fourth set for the win,” Pilot Rock coach Jen Porter said. “Nixyaawii played well. We struggled with our serving, which really hurt our ability to gain momentum in the match. We face Imbler tomorrow and are looking forward to moving on and improving.”
Aubrey Corwin added six kills, 11 assists and six aces for the Rockets (3-3 overall, 1-0 OOL), while Coley Gibbs had 17 digs and five aces, Jada Deist 15 digs, and Gracee Hemphill five aces and three blocks.
Nixyaawii (0-1, 0-1) played its first match of the season, and held its own despite having just six players.
“They worked hard and played well together,” Golden Eagles coach Nina Watchman said. “We got some aces and kills to start our season off.”
Liana Stewart led the Golden Eagles with five blocks and two aces, while Annalise Watchman had four kills and six aces, Brooklyn Jones, Devon Hall Spencer and Neveah Moore all had three aces, and Tracy Gatica had two aces and one kill.
