SCAPPOOSE — Scappoose stretched its win streak to four games with a 46-34 win Monday over 10th-ranked Pendleton at Warberg Court.

“This was a missed opportunity tonight,” Pendleton coach Tim Foster said. “Scappoose plays hard and aggressive, and they caused us problems, but in general we did not execute well enough to win.”

Scappoose (8-3) raced out to an 18-6 lead in the first quarter, getting seven points from Grace Kessi.

The Bucks (6-6) battled back over the next two  quarters to pull within 29-25 heading into the fourth quarter.

The Indians kept the pressure on in the fourth, getting seven points from Lux Johnson in a 19-9 run to secure the win.

“A lot of it came down to missed shots, which is gonna happen, but we have to limit turnovers and get more stops when the shots aren’t falling,” Foster said. “We had a few girls in foul trouble too, which definitely impacted the game.”

Khimora Scott led the Bucks with 18 points, including a 9-for-12 performance from the free-throw line. Rylee Jackson added six points, and Chais Surber had four.

“Khimora got to the line a bunch and was able to knock down some shots,” Foster said. “Paisley (McLaughlin) was really active on defense, and Katelyn (Boatman) was aggressive on the boards.”

Kessi led the Indians with 16 points, while Johnson and Jasmine Kearse each chipped in 11.

Pendleton, which lost at home for the first time this season, will host Redmond on Friday.
