Families, elders and community members gathered March 14, 2026, in the rocky hills of Eastern Oregon for the annual Latit Latit (wild celery) harvest, a long-standing tradition of the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation. Organized by the tribe’s Family Engagement Program and Department of Natural Resources, the excursion led participants through the area between Pilot Rock and Heppner to dig for one of their important First Foods.
