Reinhart leads Bucks to second place at Baker Invite

BAKER CITY — Pendleton’s Garret Reinhart shot a 78 to place third on a cool and windy day at the Baker Boys Invitational on Monday at  Quail Ridge Golf Course.

Playing in intermittent rain, Baker’s Elias Long took medalist honors with a 2-under 68, while Coltin Miller of Burns was second with a 77.

Baker won the team title with a 329, while Pendleton was second with a 341, and Mac-Hi was sixth with a 398. Pilot Rock and Umatilla did not field complete teams.

“The weather conditions were poor at best, with several times where the rain and wind, combined with cool temperatures in the 40s, were clearly a factory,” Pendleton coach Marc Sokoloski said. “Landon (Neistadt) and Cole (Sazue) did not  travel for this tournament, but that also gave an opportunity for me to play some of my younger players as a prepare to fill varsity roles in future years.”

Reinhart’s score included birdies on holes 7 and 14. Sheldon Joseph was second for the Bucks, tying for fifth with an 82. Sophomore Ruben Butler had a solid day, tying for ninth with an 86. Hayden Bonifer tied for 18th with a 90 to round out the Bucks’ scoring.

Pilot Rock’s Landon Norton finished tied for fifth with an 82, while teammate Samuel Lamberson was 69th with a 150.
