PENDLETON — Rookie goalkeeper Autumn Severe had 11 saves Tuesday afternoon to help Pendleton to a 2-1 Greater Oregon League victory over Ontario.
“She played the game of her life,” Pendleton coach Katherine Ryder said. “The girls came out strong and gave it everything they had from start to finish. With injuries and players unavailable, several girls stepped into unfamiliar positions and continued to compete hard for their team. I am proud of their willingness to adapt and do whatever was needed.”
The Bucks led 1-0 at the half as Naomi Lopez scored off an assist from Avery Tynkila.
Callahan Smith scored in the second half for Pendleton to secure the win.
“Kallie found her rhythm up top in the second half, dominated in the forward position and capitalized on that opportunity to put the ball in the back of the net,” Ryder said. “This team continues to show its heart, resilience and commitment to one another. I’m proud of the way they battled.”
Pendleton (4-7-1 overall, 2-4-1 GOL) will play Thursday at La Grande.
