PENDLETON — Pendleton’s offense struggled once again, this time being held without a point in a 20-2 loss Friday night to La Grande in the Greater Oregon League opener for both teams.
“We were unable to get anything going offensively,” Pendleton coach Erik Davis said. “Two fumbles lost and 110 yards of penalties. We need to find an identity offensively.”
The Tigers (3-3 overall) scored first in the first quarter, and the Bucks (0-5) put two points on the board later in the quarter with a safety as the La Grande long snapper put the ball over the punter’s head and out of the back of the end zone.
The 7-2 score stood at the half as neither team found the end zone in the second quarter.
The Tiger scored twice in the third quarter, and the Bucks held them out of the end zone in the fourth.
“As a whole, I felt our kids played hard, but we have been unable to find the end zone,” Davis said. “We can’t win a lot of games with this type of output. I need to be better, prepare them better. I will take this loss.”
Pendleton is back on the field Oct. 9 at Ontario for a GOL matchup.

In the second half, W-M quarterback Titus Hodgins threw a 23-yard touchdown pass to Colby Perkins, and Michael White ran for a 4-yard score and a two-point conversion. Angel Romero accounted for the other 2-point conversion.

MABTON (WA) 24, PILOT ROCK 2 — The Rockets saw their two-game win streak come to an end with a nonleague loss to the Vikings.
“It wasn’t a good night,” PR coach Shane Munkers said. “We could not get anything going offensively and ended up with under 100 yards of total offense. We struggled to block up front and had some issues catching the ball for some reason. Defensively, we struggled with tackling and gave up some big plays.”
The Rockets (2-4) scored a safety in the second quarter as Tucker Holton tackled a Mabton player in the end zone.
