MISSION — More than 160 Native American and First Nations golfers gathered at Wildhorse Golf Course for the 37th annual Cay-Uma-Wa Golf Tournament.
The tournament, held Sept. 25-27, brought golfers from across the United States and Canada together to compete in championship, ladies, first, second, seniors and Super SRS flights.
Beyond the competition, Cay-Uma-Wa provides an opportunity for generations of Native golfers to come together, continuing a tradition built around community, competition and a shared love of the game.
Aiden Thomas of Laguna Pueblo, New Mexico, claimed the field’s low gross with a score of 130, while Megan George of Mission took first in the ladies’ low gross with a score of 145. Lytle Denny of Fort Hall, Idaho, won first low gross in the first flight with a score of 150, and Shannon Wheeler of Lapwai, Idaho, took the seniors low gross title with a score of 145.
