MAUPIN — Sophomore Hailey Severe scored a career-high 21 points to lead Pilot Rock to a 61-36 nonleague win Thursday over South Wasco County.
“The girls played extremely hard today and executed well, especially on the defensive end,” Pilot Rock coach David Norton said. “South Wasco is an athletic team that applies a lot of ball pressure and we handled it well tonight.”
Kessa Liftfin scored six of her 10 points in the first quarter as the Rockets shot out to a 14-11 lead. Paige Hansen had eight of her 18 points in the second as Pilot Rock took a commanding 32-15 lead at the half.
Nine of Severe’s points came in the third quarter as the Rockets (12-4) took a 48-29 lead.
Bailey Udey led the Redsides (2-11) with 19 points, while Justee Gothem added nine.
