MISSION — Cryssa Kirkie had 17 points, and Nixyaawii picked up its first Old Oregon League win with a 41-24 victory over Griswold on Friday night.
“We did a lot of things right tonight in the first and fourth quarters, but the middle two quarters definitely got away from us,” Griswold coach Kevin Porter said. “We had plenty of good opportunities but couldn’t convert. Passing really hurt us. We just couldn’t get the ball passed to open cutters in a position that led them to a shot.”
The Golden Eagles held a 23-7 lead at the half, then went on an 18-17 run in the second half to end a three-game slide.
Annalise Watchman added six points for Nixyaawii (6-10 overall, 1-2 OOL), while Liana Stewart had five.
Ellie Morris led the Grizzlies (6-9, 1-1) with eight points, while Kallie Joe Campbell, Kate Hill and Flores each had four.
