Weston-McEwen falls short against Grant Union

GRANT UNION 73, WESTON-MCEWEN 46 — Grant Union moved to 3-1 in the Blue Mountain Conference standings with a 73-46 win Saturday over Weston-McEwen.

“I think my guys play hard tonight,” W-M coach Becky Kane said. “We had a great third quarter, but Grant Union has a good program and they stayed tough.”

Weston Suchorski scored nine of his 14 points in the first quarter as Grant Union (10-4 overall) jumped out to a 28-11 lead. The Prospectors stretched their lead to 45-19 at the half as Landyn Beil scored 11 points in the second quarter.

Weston-McEwen put together a 15-point third quarter, led by Jonny Leighty with five points, but could not catch GU.

Jace Dunlap led the TigerScots (3-14, 0-4) with 18 points, while Leighty had 11 and Michael White six.

Beil had a game-high 28 points for the Prospectors.
