HELIX — Pilot Rock took advantage of short-handed Griswold for a 45-7 Old Oregon League win Tuesday night.
Griswold (6-15 overall, 0-7 OOL), which was down to five players because of injuries, struggled to keep pace with Pilot Rock.
“No excuses, but we were down to five players,” Griswold coach Kevin Porter said. “The five we had on the floor tonight gave us everything they had. Pilot Rock is having a solid year and they would have been tough to deal with even if we were at full strength.”
The Rockets (15-6, 4-3), who held the Grizzlies scoreless in the second, held a 27-4 lead at the half, and 41-5 after three quarters.
“The girls played hard defensively tonight,” PR coach David Norton said.
Paige Hansen led the Rockets with 13 points, with Hailey Severe adding 10, and Hailey Thieme and Aubrey Corwin five points each.
Kallie Joe Campbell led the Grizzlies with four points, while Ellie Morris had two.
“Once again, the effort these girls give makes this a very fun group to coach,” Porter said. “Very proud of them for all their hard work.”
