Pilot Rock girls and boys earn OOL wins over Cove

COVE — Hailey Severe had 15 points to lead Pilot Rock to a key 52-25 Old Oregon League win Thursday over Cove.

“We had a big first half offensively tonight,” Pilot Rock coach David Norton said. It was a great team road win.”

Pilot Rock (16-6 overall, 5-3 OOL) is sitting third in the Meacham half of the OOL standings behind Echo and Imbler. The top four teams in each half of the league advance to the district playoffs.

The Rockets ran out to a 13-4 lead in the first quarter, and stretched it lead to 32-13 at the half. Pilot Rock outscored Cove 20-12 in the second half to preserve the win.

Kessa Litfin added nine points for the Rockets, while Gracee Hemphill had six points, and Paige Hansen five, while playing just the first half. Finley O’Rourke led the Leopards (5-17, 2-7) with 14 points, while Madison Frank had five.

Pilot Rock boys cruise to win over Cove

PILOT ROCK 64, COVE 48 — Tate Thacker scored 16 of his 23 points in the second half as Pilot Rock led early and never let up in picking up a 64-48 Old Oregon League win over the Leopards on Thursday night.

Pilot Rock (18-4 overall, 6-2 OOL), remains in second place in the Meacham half of the OOL behind Nixyaawii.

Pilot Rock took a 15-9 lead in the first quarter, then extended its lead to 30-22 at the half.

The Rockets went on a 34-26 scoring spree in the second half to keep the Leopards at bay.

Sun Schimmel added 26 points for the Rockets, while Carter Van Houten had nine and Boston McCall seven.

Gavin Pedro paced Cove (7-15, 1-8) with 24 points, while Ian Garlitz added 15.
