Pendleton’s Reynolds shines at elite meet in Idaho

EAGLE, Idaho — Pendleton’s Jack Reynolds finished 48th out of 355 runners with a season-best time of 17:40.10 in the boys varsity division II race Saturday, Sept. 28, at the Bob Firman Invitational at Eagle Island State Park. 

The event, which featured 5,010 athletes from 166 high schools, 71 middle schools and seven states, had four different races for varsity teams depending on previous times.

Pendleton finished 25th in the teams standings with 659 points.

Also earning points for Pendleton were Autry Robinson (146th, 18:53.40), Eric Baisley (155th, 19:00.20), Khoda Brown (161st, 19:03.80) and Samuel Watrud (231st, 20:05.30).

Dylan Ball of Sugar-Salem won the race with a time of 16:08, helping the Diggers to the team title with 62 points. Snake River was a distant second with 167 points. 

In the girls’ division II race, Pendleton finished 20th in the team standings with 573 points. The Bucks were led by Melissa Tune, who finished 101th with a time of 23:07.0. She was followed by Ella Pozar (102nd, 23:08), Evelyn Hayes (23:53.60), Madelyn Lieuallen (173rd, 24:57.30) and Rylee Jackson (184th, 25:18.30.

Megan Atkinson of Parma, Idaho, won the race with a time of 19:11.80. There were 288 runners in the race.

Ririe won the team title with 76 points, while Preston was second with 124.
