By the CUJ

Members of the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation, Colville Tribes and Nez Perce Tribes floated the Snake River in August.
“It was an unforgettable three days with pukuunen (Snake River),” Josiah Pinkham said, “visiting cultural sites, learning about the canyon and all its life and splendor, and forming new friendships.”
CTUIR youth members present were Jacob Jones, Landen Shippentower, Cole Sazue, Sacas Wildbill and Mainaia Wolf. The school-age students visited cultural sites along the river, learned about the water, wildlife and geology. One youth member on the trip said they got to know part of themselves.
Trip leaders included Tiyana Casey, Josiah Pinkham, Doug Marconi Jr. and Andrew Wildbill.
“Qeci’yew’yew for their dedications of knowledge, heart, and time to ensure these kids experienced this part of their homeland in a way that would stay with them forever,” Pinkham said.
She also thanked Winding Waters River Expeditions for their commitment and generosity amd Clark Shimeall for helping guide the youth.
