IMBLER — With district championships quickly approaching, teams were ironing out the kinks and working on technique Saturday at the Imbler Invite.
The Weston-McEwen boys team appears to be ready for the postseason, winning six events and running away with the team title with 154.5 points.
Wyatt Parsons won the 100 for the TigerScots with a time of 10.87 seconds. Parsons, who has not lost a 100-meter race this season, was the only runner under 11 seconds. Parsons also won the 200, clocking a 22.21. He was the only runner under 23 seconds. Teammate Tristan Weseman was second (23.51).
Weseman also won the long jump with a leap of 20-5 3/4, and was fourth in the 100 with a PR of 11.53.
Parsons, Weseman, Logan Ray and Colby Perkins teamed up to win the 4×100 relay, bettering their own school record with a time of 43.64.
Perkins also was third in the long jump (17-9 1/2), sixth in the 200 with a PR of 24.93, and eighth in the pole vault (10-0), while Ray was second in the 110 hurdles with a PR of 44.52, and third in the triple jump (37-11 1/2).
Ray also ran a leg on the 4×400 relay team with Dayton Monaco, Wesley Thomas and Michael White that finished second with a time of 3:41.53.
Arden Shaul ran a PR of 4:12.88 to win the 1,500, 3 seconds in front of Ian Garlitz of Cove, and 12 seconds ahead of Pendleton’s Jack Reynolds (4:24.54).
Shaul also was sixth in the 800 (2:07.74), while Reynolds was second in the 3,000 (9:54.63), 18 seconds behind Garlitz.
Imbler’s Carson Yancey swept the hurdle events, winning the 110s with a time of 16.59, and the 300s with a PR of 42.14 seconds. He won both events by more than 2 seconds.
Weston-McEwen’s White was second in the 110s with a PR of 18.77, while Thomas was third (20.35). Ray was second in the 300 hurdles with a PR of 44.52, with White fourth (45.69) and Monaco fifth (46.26).
Jace Dunlap won the shot put for the TigerScots with a heave of 47-10. Teammate Cason Pettyjohn was third (42-5 1/4), and Damian Gonzalez was sixth (36-11 1/2).
Dunlap also was second in the javelin at 154-4, and third in the discus with a PR of 128-11 1/2. Heith Gilman was eighth in the javelin (118-3 1/2).
In addition to Reynolds in the distance races, William Michael was second in the pole vault (13-0), and Zeland Gardner was third (10-6). Gardner also was fifth in the long jump (16-10 1/2).
In the sprints, Kyrael Davis was fifth in the 200 (24.79), and Ryan Simpson was eighth in the 400 (57.47).
In the throwing events, Brance Campbell was third in the javelin (135-9 1/2), while Jack DeGrofft was fifth in the javelin (129-8 1/2), Elijah Campbell was eighth in the shot put (35-3 1/2) and seventh in the discus (105-0 1/2), and Daylen Ellis was sixth in the javelin (106-10).
The Bucks also won the mixed throwers relay as Annaliese Somnis, Ellis, Ellie Geesey and DeGrofft turned in a time of 57.14.
For Pilot Rock, Sun Schimmel placed fourth in the high jump (5-6) and fifth in the 100 (11.68) and 800 (2:07.33), while Tayven Warren was seventh in the high jump (5-4) and eighth in the 200 (25.42). Warren, Boston McCall, Elisha Sanchez and Schimmel turned in a time of 4:00.61 to place sixth in the 4×400 relay.
Enterprise was second in the team standings behind W-M with 126 points, while Cove was third (102). Imbler was fourth (95.5), Pendleton fifth (59.5), Union sixth (56), Pilot Rock eighth (19) and Elgin 10th (3).
Joseph won the girls’ team title with 138 points, with host Imbler right behind with 136. Weston-McEwen was fourth (93), Union fifth (68), Pendleton sixth (40), Powder Valley ninth (11), Elgin 10th (10) and Pilot Rock 11th (3).
Weston-McEwen was led by Addy Hall, who won three events and placed second in another.
Hall won the 100 with a PR of 12.86, the 200 (26.88) and the 100 hurdles (15.94). She was also second in a photo finish in the 300 hurdles with a time of 47.52. Winner Annie Rose Miller of Joseph ran a 47.51.
Charlotte Hansell added to the TigerScots’ pile of points, placing second in the long jump (14-7), third in the triple jump (31-3) and seventh in the 300 hurdles (51.84). Charlie Roggiero was eighth in the 100 hurdles (21.29).
Hansell, Brooklyn Parker, Stella Wolf and Bree Perkins teamed up for a fourth-place finish in the 4×100 relay (51.14).
Perkins also was sixth in the high jump (4-6) and the triple jump (29-6 3/4), while Wolf was seventh in the 400 (1:06.94).
In the throwing events, Sydney Carey was second in the shot put (33-1 3/4) and fifth in the discus (90-9), while Elsie Sprenger was seventh in the shot put (29-3) and fourth in the discus (92-0 1/4),
Mylie Garrett was eighth in the shot put (27-10 1/2), and Manaia Wolf was fourth in the javelin with a PR of 96-11 1/2.
For Pendleton, Kayle Smith placed second in the pole vault (9-6), while Mackenna Naughton was fourth in the long jump (14-4), Layla Winburn was seventh in the long jump (13-10 3/4) and Ava Jackson was seventh in the long jump (29-6).
Geesey had a throw of 29-6 1/2 to place fifth in the shot put. In the high jump, Naughton was second (4-8), with Paisley McLaughlin third (4-8). All of Pilot Rock’s points came in the discus as Paige Hansen was seventh (86-9 3/4) and Aubrey Corwin was eighth (86-3 1/2).
