The Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation’s General Election will be held Tuesday, Nov. 9, according to officials.
In-person voting will occur from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Nixyáawii Governance Center, 46411 Timíne Way, Pendleton, OR, 97801. Voting room is #102 A/B, Cayuse/Umatilla.
The Tribal Election Commission reviewed nomination petitions at 4 p.m. on Aug. 31. The Commission said Candidates will be official after an 8-day window for withdrawals occur. A list of candidates and proposed amendments is available on Page B22-23 in this edition of the CUJ.
The absentee ballot voting request deadline will be Oct. 26. Ballots are scheduled to be mailed by Oct. 20.
“If you are unable to vote in person, your Absentee Ballot Request Form must be received by no later than the deadline,” officials said.
The form will be available at https://ctuir.org/our-government/committees-commissions/election-commission. The form can also be given by mail, email or in-person by members of the Election Commission, which include Roberta Wilson, Michelle Thompson, Roberta Kipp, Jess Lavadour, Bob Shippentower, Margaret Sheoships, Tami Rochelle and Pam Shippentower.
Signatures are required on absentee ballots, which are then verified by the Election Commission.
A Notice of Proposed Constitutional Amendment has also been released.
Candidates were able to request election packets as of Aug. 16.
