MISSION – In a tight 3-2 vote, the Board of Trustees for the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation moved forward with a number of measures toward hiring a new Executive Director.
Ted Wright resigned that position in early November.
The Executive Director Recruiting and Selection Committee will consist of Human Resources Director Kathryn Burke, Deputy Executive
Director Charles F. Sams III, Lead Attorney Naomi Stacy, Finance Director Paul Rabb, Tamastslikt Director Roberta Conner, Wildhorse Executive Director Gary George, and BOT member Boots Pond.
The Committee will hire a recruiting service to bring in qualified applicants. Key points of emphasis are advertising, collection and screening applications, and reviewing the job description, per the Resolution.
Through the process, the BOT then expects to be presented with the “best qualified and suitable” for the position.
“Time is of the essence,” the resolution states.
Charles F. Sams III was appointed the E.D. in the interim on the same Resolution.
Three Board members abstained from voting, including Sandra Sampson, Corinne Sams and Boots Pond.
Voting yes was Kat Brigham, Sally Kosey and Jill-Marie Gavin. Voting against the resolution was Jeremy Wolf and Lindsey Watchman.
